Well they did it… The 4 man team consisting of Dave Watson, Richard Sargent, Ash Potter and Matt Richards managed to play 72 holes of golf at St. Austell in 14.5 fun fuelled hours on Friday 27th June.
It all started at 4.am with bacon sandwiches cooked by Richard in the back of his van, and they were officially started by the ever youthful Alan Lund who got out of bed early to help out.
I am sure that the challenge seemed huge at 5.30am on the 5th fairway as the heavens literally opened and the greens flooded. However the weather steadily improved and all 4 golfers lasted the distance, posting some impressive 2 best ball scores of 85, 85, 91 and 90.
The team would like to thank all friends, family and club members who have been so generous in their support.
The event was part of the national Macmillan Longest Day Golf Challenge, and has raised in the region of £500 for the very worthy cause.
The challenge has been laid down for any other teams who may like to compete next year.
