St Austell Golf Club are the first winners of the CGU Seniors Team Championship after producing an all round excellent set of scores in the handicap based betterball medal staged on the 27th June 2016 at the excellent Point at Polzeath GC.
The team – pictured above Richard Rowe, Nigel Horsfield, Richard Thomas, Glyn Rowett, Dave Kitt & Simon Harper pictured with Club Captain Malcolm Sutton – all returned nett scores in the 60s to claim the win by a narrow margin from local rivals Carlyon Bay and Truro, on a day where 6 shots separated the top 15 of the 24 competing clubs.
On a day where competitors were full of praise, not only for the host venue and the exceptional condition of it’s course but also for the format of this new competition, some 144 seniors took part with over 6 hours worth of tee times.
